Annie He Xiao was born in China and started dancing at the age of 11, with a primary concentration in ballet, ballroom and latin dance. She was chosen to be part of the highly selective Chinese National Teams.
In the US she became the vice champion of Professional Rising Star Latin National Championships in 2018. Her outstanding results are a testament to her talent, hard work, and dedication to latin dance.
Annie is a successful professional latin dancer. She has competed internationally, achieving major successes at the top world championships, Blackpool UK Open and Internationals. Her attention to detail and her patience make her a perfect director of the kids program. At QBD, we are proud to have Annie oversee our Kids Program.
Queens Ballroom Dance is home to world class dance instructors, who are able to share their knowledge and differentiate the information for kids. Ballroom Dancing consists of 10 unique dances that challenge kids in memorization, listening skills, improving posture, and balance. Dancing is known to improve coordination, memory, and resilience. By adding dance to your kid's activities, you will improve their artistic expression, athletic capabilities, and overall self-confidence.
Whether the kids are exercising or improving their dance technique, our classes are structured around learning. At Queens Ballroom Dance, we believe in inquiry-type learning where the kids have to engage with the subject at hand instead of simply following instructions. In our digital world, intrapersonal connection becomes a vital skill. In dancing, we rely on verbal language as well as body language. We build a community that is supportive and ambitious.
